-- *NEWS*: PASSING LINES - NOW ONLINE!
Estelle Hébert is happy to announce that the documentary project Passing Lines has finally been launched online! WWW.PASSINGLINES.COM
Drawing on themes related to traveling, movement, change, and identity, Passing Lines--an audio-based documentary--explores the tensions and difficulties that exist between the rigid structures enforced by Immigration and those traveling individuals who have made their refugee claim based on their sexual identity. Combining soundscapes and testimonies obtained from outside the judicial system, the documentary tells the story of three different queer refugees' journey to Canada, exploring new grounds by emphasizing sound as traveling speech, testimony, and story within a society where visuality continues to be privileged.
Passing Lines can be previewed as a video on this website, OR as an audio file on the official Passing Lines website.
" For me, a central question is, where are we today regarding democracy with relation to art? How can art influence and be influenced by the process of democracy? I believe that the examination of democracy and public space is a project that should continue." -- Krzysztof Wodiczko
Internationally renowned Polish-American artist Krzysztof Wodiczko is best known for his large scale video projections on architectural facades, speaking for the victims of violence, alienation, and inhumanity in modern society.
